Instrument Electrician
Job Description
Works under the general supervision of supervisor or leader using standard trade practices and approved code methods. Works from complicated schematic diagrams, drawings and specifications involving complex circuitry together with machine design drawings as related to the electronic equipment repair project. Performs repair and maintenance work on all electronic control equipment and apparatus. Observes machine operations to determine the nature of operating malfunction. Uses appropriate test instruments, such as oscilloscopes, digital multi-meter, logic probe, transistor checker, diode tester, volt-ohm meter and others to diagnose and locate the reason for the malfunction and make the needed repairs. Replace, adjust and calibrate components to align control apparatus to required operating specifications. May repair printed circuitry boards. Proceeds with minimum supervision on assignments; instructions and guidance provided on difficult projects that require engineering assistance. Works in all areas of the plant as required. May perform minor mechanical work.
Essential Functions
- Provides onsite IT and Telecommunications support.
- Performs PC configurations, moves and/or additions.
- Ensures employees have necessary IT equipment: computers, phones, cellular devices.
- Provides Helpdesk support.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Skills: Performs diversified electronic repair operations. Considerable judgement required to repair electronic and electronic malfunctions in a knowledgeable and expedient manner. Works from complicated schematic diagrams, drawings and specifications and uses equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multi- meter, logic probe, transistor checker, diode tester and other related equipment.
Responsibility: Works under general supervision using standard trade practices. Careless use of equipment, tools and meters may result in damage, spoilage or rework of material. May manage high voltage equipment.
Hazards: Potential for electrical shock and may work from ladder or platform.

Work Environment
Typical shop conditions, with some dirt and soils, grease, dust. Climbing involved using ladders.
