Visitors to the Besser stand at the two-day United Kingdom Concrete Show (UKCS) were upbeat and optimistic about their business levels and market conditions. Producers spending time with Conrad Bailey, Mike Munro and Duane Rondeau were interested in the Servopac®, Megapac, Big Board Machines and BiDi® Pipe Machine for replacing existing machines and for new installations, wet cast production, technical service assistance and parts, and on-site training.
Taking the lead from the recent Besser Blockmakers training course held in the UK and led by Ron Scherer; Mike Munro conducted a seminar on the show floor for attendees that was titled, Back to Basics, and highlighted six quality fundamentals: design of process, raw materials, plant and equipment, knowledge/skill, data capture and process improvement. This set the stage for introducing iActExto attendees. This management tool collects data that producers can use to identify areas of their operation needing improvement. Many of these areas have been created because of the skill shortage now that the market is gaining strength. Besser partners with iActEx to provide this technology to producers around the globe. Kevin Haggerty, iActEx founder, worked closely with Mike on development of the presentation.
The UKCS is a premier industry event that continues to grow in scope and importance. The show brought the concrete industry under one roof and boasted over 200 exhibitors that displayed concrete materials, equipment, packaging materials, raw materials, parts, supplies and accessories and much more. It is an exclusive event that presents live demonstrations of various products and services and provides vast opportunities and exposure to exhibitors. Besser will be exhibiting at the 2016 event being held 17–18 February 2016.
