Marwan Mizher, Sales Manager for North Africa and Middle East and Mike Munro, International Sales Manager represented Besser at the five day SITP trade fair in Algiers, Algeria.
Held from 19-23 November 2014, the “International Trade Fair for Public Works and Construction Machinery” attracts visitors from Algeria and throughout the entire the region. On the second day of the show, Mike Munro was pleased with the quality and quantity of visitors, “Our stand has been busy. We have already met with more than 40 prospective customers which is an average of one visit every 15 minutes!” All the visitors have confirmed reports that infrastructure projects, such as road building and housing, are undergoing rapid expansion. Reports indicate that the Algerian government has set aside $200 billion to fund infrastructure regeneration between now and 2020; 50% of which is being earmarked for housing.
Algeria is the tenth-largest country in the world, and the largest in Africa and in the Mediterranean. Its population of 37.9 million makes it the 35th most populated country on earth. Algeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2013 was $210 billion.
