SERVICE
TIP
Bar
Feed Conveyor Maintenance
BEFORE DOING ANY SERVICE OR MAINTENANCE
ON ANY MACHINE, FOLLOW ALL LOCKOUT PROCEDURES. THIS SHOULD INCLUDE:
- DISCONNECT THE ELECTRICAL POWER
SUPPLY.
- RELIEVE THE PRESSURE FROM THE
HYDRAULIC SYSTEM (CHECK THE PRESSURE GAUGE ON THE POWER UNIT TO MAKE
SURE IT READS ZERO).
- MECHANICALLY SECURE ANY PART OF THE
MACHINE THAT MAY SHIFT WHILE DOING MAINTENANCE.
GENERAL
Check all fasteners for tightness and
tighten as required (refer to maintenance checklist below).
- Check for hydraulic motor and fluid
leaks and repair immediately.
- When disconnecting and reconnecting
hydraulic lines, make sure the o-ring seal is in its proper seat.
These can become unseated during the re-assembly process resulting in
hydraulic leaks.
BAR FEED CONVEYOR
- Check fasteners for tightness.
- Check that bearings are adequately
greased.
- Check the bar to be sure it rolls freely. Put the bar at the point to where it is
about to roll under the wear plate. The bar must turn freely. (A general
check for this while it is running is when the bar rolls off the block, at
this point it will turn backwards. If it does not turn backward, it may
chip the back block.)
- The bar not
rolling freely is a sign of premature bar and pin wear.
- Check for
hydraulic motor and fluid leaks. Repair if necessary.
- Check the chain
tension. (See Figure 1)
