Fully Automatic Pipe Handling Systems Added to Besser Product Line
On 1 June 2006, Besser Company acquired the pipe handling system from Messmann Service GmbH. In addition, Besser and Messman formed an exclusive partnership to continue the development of equipment for pipe handling. Separately, Messmann will continue to operate his company for spigot, grinding and measurement equipment.
The acquisition of the pipe handling equipment complements the company’s current pipe machinery product line, which includes Advantage Series BiDi® concrete pipe machines and Besser OMAG vibration pipe machines. “The addition of the automated robotic handling system allows us to supply producers with a complete Besser system supported by parts availability, technical service and training,” commented Kevin Curtis, President and CEO of Besser Company.
The handling system automatically places the pallet with a cage onto the machine loading station. A bi-rail moves the pipe to the moving floor, which transports it to the curing chamber. Once cured, the pipe is picked up by a robot and moved to a depalleting station. The pallet is then cleaned, stacked and oiled while the pipe is placed on the staging area, where it is deburred, measured for roundness, vacuum- or hydro-tested. The pipe travels to the marking station before being transported to the yard for storage. This pipe handling system can be installed in existing production facilities.
Besser Company is the world’s largest supplier of production systems for the concrete products industry. The company serves the pipe, masonry, landscape, precast and ready-mix segments of the industry from manufacturing locations staffed with sales and technical service representatives around the world.
